Foundation subjects

History, Geography, Music, Art and Design, Design and Technology,

These subjects are taught in each year of the school, mainly through cross-curricular topics.

Physical Education

All pupils take part in a wide range of lessons that include skills, technique and rules alongside games and fitness.  Dance, yoga, gymnastics and movement are also taught in each year. Children in Class 3 go swimming at Thirsk Leisure Centre in the Autumn and Spring terms. Class 2 go swimming in the Spring term.

Modern Foreign Languages

All pupils in KS2 follow the NYCC scheme of learning for Primary French.

Computing and IT

IT is used across the curriculum in all subjects with Computing being taught in each class in line with the requirements of the National Curriculum.

PSHE & Citizenship

We follow the NYCC Personal Social Health Education (PSHE) and Citizenship guidance and framework. Objectives, which include British Values, are met through a range of discrete lessons and curriculum enrichment, and as part of a wider cross-curricular approach.
